Why a hospital standardizes on one transport cart
Supplies in a hospital move on a loop: from receiving to central supply, from central supply to the floor, from sterile processing to the OR and back. Every time a tray is repacked between a shelf, a cart and a cabinet, someone spends time and something gets lost. The Pegasus transport lines exist to remove the repacking step: the same ISO 6040 tray, basket or container that lives in a Hygieia rack slides onto a Salus cart and rides to the department.
The manufacturer builds all three lines on anodized or painted aluminum frames. Its stated reasons are the ones facilities usually care about: light weight for pushing across a campus, a structure it says will not rust or peel, easy cleaning, and flat-pack shipping with local assembly. We repeat those as the manufacturer’s statements and confirm the current specification on each quote.

Salus open transport carts
The Salus open cart is the workhorse: an anodized aluminum frame with nylon-aluminum rails and ABS baskets, offered in single, double and triple widths. The manufacturer publishes these three models and dimensions:

Other heights are published for the line (116, 140, 164 and 188 cm), and handles come in color-coding versions so a cart can be assigned to a department or a supply stream at a glance. Carts ship flat-packed for local assembly.

Sterile processing has its own transport problem: rigid containers and wrapped packs going out clean, used instruments coming back contaminated, and the two streams never allowed to touch. Pegasus answers it with Salus CSSD mobile units in single, double and triple U widths that carry ISO 60-40 stainless shelves and standard containers on fixed or telescopic guides, with an optional lock bar across the front.
The manufacturer publishes a closed version for sterile transport and an open version, and a distinct yellow-container cart for the return of contaminated materials, so the two streams are visibly different in the corridor. The frames use the same sealed aluminum structure as the Salus CSSD shelving described below.

Hermes is the enclosed cart for moving sterile and non-sterile equipment between buildings, or from central sterilization to the receiving departments, including inside a truck. The manufacturer publishes it in U and UU widths and lists the features that make it a vehicle rather than a shelf on wheels:
- Rigid heavy-duty aluminum structure with washable, removable nylon side panels
- Doors that lock with a key or a seal lock and open to 270°, held to the outside wall by a magnet
- Rubber bumpers all round, top and bottom, for transport inside trucks
- Dedicated hooking structure and optional traction connection for towing
- 6″ heavy-duty wheels, with or without locking
- Baskets and trays that tilt while pulled out; vertical or horizontal push handles
Hermes is the right answer when supplies leave the building. Inside one building, the open Salus cart is lighter and cheaper; ask us which fits your route.
Artemis aluminum treatment cart
Artemis is the odd one out in this group: a treatment cart rather than a logistics cart, but built the same way. The manufacturer describes a painted aluminum profile skeleton, polymer side sheets and a 5 mm HPL worktop, shipped flat-packed in lightweight packaging to keep freight down and designed for quick local assembly.
The published model is the Artemis 38″ aluminum cart, ART-E-1.8PNL-44448, and the accessory list is short and practical: aluminum accessory rail (ART-SRAIL-E), triple glove box holder (TR-GBH-ABS), disinfection bottle holder (DLBH-PP), waste basket (CRTA-WSBIN) and a tilt-bin holder (ART-TBH-2) as an optional add-on.
Facilities usually look at Artemis when they need a light treatment cart for clinics or wards and want the aluminum construction of the Pegasus logistics lines rather than a steel drawer cart.

Salus shelving: the stationary side of the line
Salus is also a shelving system. Top Salus is aluminum shelving in stationary I-, L- and U-shaped runs or a mobile version on four casters with stoppers and resin bumpers; the manufacturer describes a three-step assembly using corner pieces, connectors and shelves that clip to the corner supports. Max Salus adds a higher published load rating and shelves the manufacturer describes as antimicrobial. Salus HD is the high-density ISO 6040 aluminum storage version.
