Planning Your Lab Tables and Workbenches

Before choosing a work surface finish, walk through these planning questions with your Labs USA specialist. They determine which frame, mobility option, and layout above actually fits your room and your work — our specialist will confirm exact ratings and dimensions for the specific table you select.

Frame & Storage

• Do you need storage at the bench (a mobile cabinet base, like our CornerStone Mobile Cabinet options above) or is an open tube frame — easier to clean underneath and simpler to reconfigure — a better fit?
• Will this bench stay in a fixed position, or does it need to move or reconfigure later?
• Does the workstation need knee clearance for seated work, or will it be used standing?

Load & Contact Points

• What instruments or equipment will sit on the table, and what do they weigh? Bring this list to your specialist so the right frame and leg option (see the Fixed Height, Leveling Glide, and Casters options above) can be confirmed for that load.
• Will weight be concentrated in one spot (a single instrument) or distributed across the surface?

Work through this with your specialist based on the task, the floor, and how much stability the work requires:

• Does the bench need to move between rooms or be pulled out for cleaning, or should it stay put?
• Is the work sensitive to vibration or movement (e.g., balance or instrument work)?
• What is the floor surface, and does the space have thresholds or transitions the table needs to roll over?

Shelving & Utility Needs

When planning any workstation, confirm these with your specialist before ordering:

• What needs to sit on a shelf above the bench, and how much shelf load does it need?
• What utility connections does the bench need — power, data, gas, or plumbing — and where should they be positioned?
• Is any ventilation or extraction equipment planned for the same wall, so shelving and utilities can be laid out to avoid conflicts?

Measuring Your Space
