People ask us for stainless steel medical cabinets for one of two reasons: the room gets wet, or the surfaces get cleaned hard. Both are good reasons, and both are worth being precise about — because what the manufacturer publishes in stainless is components and worktops, while the stock enclosed cabinet range is welded steel with a baked-enamel finish. What 304 electropolish actually buys you
The manufacturer describes 304 stainless with an electropolish finish as the highest industry standard in the prevention of corrosion, and effective for corrosive and high-humidity environments.
That is a corrosion statement, and it is the one we repeat. It is the reason stainless earns its cost in wash rooms, decontamination areas, cooler-adjacent spaces and anywhere the enclosure will be wiped down constantly. It is also why the finish appears on posts, wire shelves, solid shelves, enclosure panels and worktops rather than only on a cabinet shell — corrosion starts at the component that gets wet first.

Two of those lines do more work than people expect. A stainless shelf top turns an existing wire unit into a wipe-down work surface without replacing the unit, and a stainless enclosure panel set turns the same unit into secured storage. Between them they cover most of what people actually wanted when they asked for a stainless cabinet.
Where the requirement is genuinely a closed, hinged, lockable stainless box — for instance in a wash-down room — we quote it as a specified assembly with the materials stated on the quote. That is slower than picking a stock model, and it is the honest route.
The enclosed cabinets we stock, and when they are the better buy
For dry rooms, the published all-purpose steel cabinets are usually the better value: 14 gauge all-welded construction, gray baked-enamel finish, a 3-point locking handle supplied with two keys, and they ship completely assembled. Published widths run 36, 48, 60 and 72 inches plus a specialty group, with bin colours listed in blue, yellow, green, red, ivory and black.
Interiors are configured rather than fixed. The models we loaded include combinations of adjustable interior shelves, door shelves, drawer banks and large bin sets — for example a 36 by 24 by 72 inch flush-door cabinet published with 58 bins, an adjustable shelf, 12 door shelves and four drawers in three heights.
Small-item control is a separate product: interlocking polymer drawer cabinets, published in nine preconfigured units, made from high impact polystyrene with removable drawers, seven moulded divider slots per drawer, clear windows and pre-drilled holes for wall mounting. They stack and interlock horizontally and vertically.

Choosing between stainless, epoxy and painted steel
- Standing water or wash-down — 304 stainless with an electropolish finish, and stainless fixings.
- High humidity, no direct wetting — the epoxy finishes are the manufacturer’s stated answer, at lower cost than stainless.
- Dry room, security matters more than corrosion — the welded 14 gauge cabinets with the 3-point locking handle.
- Mixed room — match finishes within a sightline, because a correct mixed-finish room still reads as a mistake to everyone who uses it.
- Ask about warranty terms per finish on the quote, since the manufacturer publishes different terms by finish.
