About ICI Scientific and Labs USA

ICI Scientific is the brand name of Institutional Casework, Inc., a privately owned U.S. manufacturer based in Paris, Tennessee. ICI builds laboratory casework in painted steel, stainless steel, wood and phenolic, plus fume hoods, adaptable bench and table systems, work surfaces, lab seating and science classroom furniture. Its Jamestown Metal Products (JMP) division makes the Isolator fume hood line, and its CampbellRhea brand has built wood science casework for schools since 1951.

ICI Scientific Casework: Steel, Stainless, Wood and Phenolic

Most ICI projects start with casework. ICI makes all four main materials under one roof, so one lab can mix steel in the instrument room, stainless in the wash area and wood in a teaching room, with matching modules and one manufacturer.

ICI CornerStone painted steel casework

CornerStone is ICI’s sectional steel cabinet system. You choose flush overlay steel, inset steel, or flush overlay wood fronts, and 15 powder coat colors. Every component is made to the same module, so doors, drawer fronts and suspensions can be swapped in the field with hand tools when the lab changes. That makes it a strong pick for research and clinical labs that expect to re-plan within the life of the building.

ICI CornerStone stainless steel casework

The stainless version of CornerStone is built in T304 or T316 stainless with a uniform #4 finish, in flush overlay or inset styles. Stainless tops with integral sinks suit rooms that are cleaned and sanitized often, such as hospital labs, animal facilities and wash areas. T316 is the usual choice where chlorides or harsh cleaners are present.

ICI Tier One Premier Wood casework

Tier One is ICI’s premium wood line: hand-selected, vertical grain matched veneers in maple, oak, cherry, bamboo, beech, ash or other species, with seven standard finishes or a custom match. ICI states the line exceeds SEFA resistance and performance standards and offers FSC chain-of-custody product on request. Wood is often chosen for university research buildings, corporate R&D and any lab where appearance matters.

CampbellRhea educational wood casework

CampbellRhea has built wood science furniture for schools since 1951 and is now part of ICI. The line covers perimeter casework, student stations and tables for chemistry, biology and physics rooms. ICI states its finish exceeds the SEFA standard for chemical resistance. It is the ICI line we usually quote for K-12 districts and community colleges.

Spectrum Decor laminate and ICI specialty materials

Spectrum Decor is ICI’s plastic laminate casework, reagent racks and shelving, with a wide color range for hospital pharmacies, nurse stations and libraries. ICI Specialty Products adds phenolic casework and tops, and HDPE (Nautilus marine plastic) for damp to very wet rooms. Phenolic resists many acids, solvents and moisture and does not rust, which makes it a common choice for wet labs.

ICI Envision, Patriot and FlexCore Bench Systems

ICI makes three families for labs that change often. All three can be combined with ICI casework and hoods in one layout.

Envision 3.0 bench system

Envision is a free-standing bench frame that connects to ceiling-mounted service panels through flexible lines. Gas and air come to the work surface through needle-point fixtures, while power and data sit on a power beam. Benches can be moved and re-piped without trades tearing out casework. Envision is also part of ICI’s INSTOCK program.

Patriot and Patriot Edge tables

Patriot is a build-as-you-need table: 2 x 2 in. 11-gauge welded steel frames, 1 in. phenolic or epoxy tops, bolt-style height adjustment and a 950 lb UDL rating on glides. Patriot Edge, developed with GSK, adds plug-and-play service poles, suspended or docking cabinets and a 1,000 lb capacity, with crank or electric lift options.

FlexCore adaptable furniture

FlexCore mixes modular casework with docking mobile carts, bookcases and computer stations. Services are reached through access panels, so work does not stop for changes. ICI designs FlexCore to connect to most other brands’ units, which helps when you are adding to an existing lab.
