Large empty steel louvered panel ready for bin mounting

A louvered panel bin system is the cheapest way to turn an empty wall into an organised pick face. The panel carries horizontal louvers; hanging bins hook on anywhere along them and move in seconds when the stock list changes. No shelving, no footprint, and nothing on the floor to clean around. This page covers the panels, the bins that hang on them and how to size a run. It sits under wall mounted medical storage.

Two panel types, different rooms

Steel panels for volume and load. Chrome wire panels where you want to see and clean behind the storage.

Steel louvered panels. The manufacturer’s current panel page lists 18 models and describes them as formed from heavy-duty 16 gauge cold rolled steel with a grey or beige baked-enamel finish. It states the panels may be mounted on any suitable surface — walls, benches, inside service vehicles and cabinets, or on carts — and that they must be fastened securely to assure adequate load bearing. Published capacity load figures vary by model: the two largest panels we quote most, QLP-3661 and QLP-4861, are both listed at 500 lb, while the small QLP-1819 is listed at 175 lb.

Chrome wire louvered panels. Published in three sizes — WLP-1836C at 36 by 18 inches, WLP-3036C at 36 by 30 inches and WLP-3048C at 48 by 30 inches. The manufacturer’s reason for offering them is worth repeating as its own: unlike a standard louvered panel, it says the wire panels completely resist any buildup of dust or dirt. Direct mounting clips are included; mounting screws are not, because they depend on your wall construction, and offset clips are available separately if you want the panel standing off the wall so you can clean behind it. The WLP-3036C page lists a 175 lb capacity load.

On panel sizes. The manufacturer’s current product pages publish the sizes of the wire panels but not of the steel panels, so we do not restate steel panel dimensions here — they are confirmed per model on the quote. Published load figures are the manufacturer’s, apply to the panel when it is securely fastened to a suitable surface, and are not a statement about your wall. Every model number, dimension and finish on this page comes from the manufacturer’s current published literature or a live product page loaded on 5 August 2026, and is quoted as the manufacturer’s own figure. Where a configuration is not published we say so rather than estimating it.

The bins that hang on them

What makes the system work is the full-width rear hanger moulded into the hanging bin range: the manufacturer states it supports the bin when hanging from louvered panels or rails, so a bin can be lifted off and rehung one louver higher without tools.

The published bin range runs from small parts bins at 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 by 3 inches up to large bins at 18 by 16-1/2 by 11 inches, in blue, yellow, red, green, ivory, black and clear, with several sizes also published in stone and four in crystal clear. Optional clear windows close the open front and, in the manufacturer’s words, maximise capacity and prevent spillage; dividers subdivide the bin; and clear label holders clip on so the labelling is consistent across the whole panel.

Tip out units can share the same panel: the manufacturer publishes a louvered panel bracket pair (QTB-LP-BKT) that hangs a 23-5/8 inch wide tip out unit on a panel. That is how a single run ends up carrying clear bins for level checking, coloured bins for ownership and a tip out unit for the smallest items.

Where panels beat shelving

Louvered panel with bins of several sizes hung in a stepped patternMixed bin sizes on one wallBecause bins hook anywhere on the louvers, a panel can carry four bin sizes in one column and be rearranged as the stock list changes.
Long louvered panel wall run with baskets and bins attachedLong runs as a single pick facePanels butt together along a wall to give one continuous, labelled pick face at eye level, with the floor left clear.

Three situations make panels the obvious answer. Rooms where the shelving already fills the floor and the walls are empty. Rooms that get re-organised often, because moving a bin is free. And bench, cart and vehicle installations, since the manufacturer publishes the panels as mountable on benches, carts and inside service vehicles as well as walls — the same logic as the panels fitted to supply carts.

Sizing a panel run

1Find the real usable wallMeasure between obstructions, not corner to corner. Sockets, rails, dispensers, light switches and door swings all remove usable panel area.
2Set the working bandBins that get used every hour belong between waist and shoulder height. Panels can run higher for slow-moving stock, but plan who reaches it.
3Choose panel typeSteel for the highest published loads and the widest model choice; chrome wire where you want visibility and to clean behind the panel using offset clips.
4Count bins, not panelsWork out the bin sizes and quantities first; the panel count falls out of that. Leave roughly one bin width of spare louver per column for next year.
5Confirm the fixings on siteMounting screws are not supplied because they depend on the wall. Stud, block, drywall and tile all need a different answer, and that is a site decision made with your facilities team.

Estimated figures only. Quantities, footprints and capacities we produce during planning are estimates for discussion. Final specifications and dimensions are confirmed on the quote and field-verified before installation.

Lay the bin wall out first

The Shelving and Bin Configurator lets you pick bin sizes, see how many fit a run and check the arithmetic before anything is ordered. Send us the layout and we will quote the panels, bins, windows and label holders as one parts list.

Louvered panel bin system FAQ

What are louvered panels made of?
The manufacturer describes the steel panels as heavy-duty 16 gauge cold rolled steel with a grey or beige baked-enamel finish, and the wire panels as heavy-duty chrome wire. Eighteen steel panel models and three wire panel sizes are currently published.
How much weight can a panel hold?
The manufacturer publishes a capacity load per model — for example 500 lb for the QLP-3661 and QLP-4861 panels and 175 lb for the small QLP-1819 and for the WLP-3036C wire panel. Those figures assume the panel is securely fastened to a suitable surface. What your wall itself will carry is a site question for your facilities team, and we do not make claims about it.
What size are the steel panels?
The current product pages publish the sizes of the wire panels (36 by 18, 36 by 30 and 48 by 30 inches) but not of the steel panels, so we confirm steel panel dimensions per model on the quote rather than restating figures we cannot source.
Which bins hang on them?
The hanging bin range, which the manufacturer publishes with a full-width rear hanger that supports the bin on louvered panels and rails. Sizes run from 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 by 3 inches up to 18 by 16-1/2 by 11 inches, in seven published colours, with optional windows, dividers and clear label holders.
Can tip out bins go on a louvered panel?
Yes. A louvered panel bracket pair is published for the 23-5/8 inch wide tip out units, so one run can carry hanging bins and tip out units together.
Where can panels be mounted?
The manufacturer states they may be mounted on any suitable surface, including walls, benches, inside service vehicles and cabinets, and on carts. Mounting screws are not supplied with the wire panels because the right fixing depends on the surface.
Do you help lay out the wall?
Yes, at no charge. Send a photo of the wall with dimensions and the item list. You get a bin layout, panel models and quantities, a label plan and a quoted parts list, with fixings confirmed on site.
