A tip out bin system is a fixed housing with clear cups that hinge forward. It suits the storage that has to sit at eye level in a small room: gauze, syringes, connectors, cannulae, dressing packs. Nothing is stacked, nothing is hidden behind anything else, and one hand opens a compartment while the other holds a tray. This page covers the published sizes and accessories, and how to lay a run out. It sits under medical bins and containers.

The published sizes, and what each one is for
Compartment depth is the decision. Pick it from the tallest item you want to stand up, not from the widest gap on the wall.
The main range is published in seven sizes. Six of them are 23-5/8 inches wide and differ in how tall and deep the cups are, from a shallow unit at 2-1/2 inches deep to a deep two-compartment unit at 11-3/4 inches. There is also a single-compartment version at 11-3/4 by 11-13/16 by 13-7/8 inches for taller packaged items. Cups are clear on every unit in the range, and the manufacturer publishes the exterior in three colours.
The shallow units are the ones people underestimate. A 3-5/8 inch deep unit holds an enormous number of small packaged items across its width, and because it projects so little it can sit above a work surface without getting in the way of the work.

Dividers, locking rods and mounting
Dividers split a cup into smaller compartments and are published per model — three dividers for one size, four for another. On the dividable clear bin (published as QTB410, 5-1/4 by 11-7/8 by 5-15/16 inches) the manufacturer supplies three clear dividers with the bin and describes them as removable and adjustable, so the compartment sizes are yours to set.
A locking rod is published for the 23-5/8 inch wide units (model QLR500). It holds the cups shut, which matters where a unit is inside a room the public can reach or where a cup must not tip open if the door is knocked. It is a mechanical retainer, not a security cabinet: where contents must be locked away, a medical storage cabinet is the right product.
Mounting. Units fix to a wall or a panel. The manufacturer publishes a louvered panel bracket pair (QTB-LP-BKT) so a 23-5/8 inch wide unit can hang on a louvered panel, which is what makes a mixed wall of tip out units and hanging bins possible on one panel run.

Small interlocking units
- Three individual sizes are published — 5-1/4 x 4-3/4 x 6-1/4 inches, 3-5/8 x 4-1/16 x 4-1/4 inches and 2-3/8 x 2-13/16 x 3 inches
- The manufacturer states they interlock horizontally and vertically, so a bank can be built up compartment by compartment
- Colour options are published per size, which makes these the easiest way to run a colour convention in a tip out format
- A 21-compartment set is published at 3-5/8 x 23-5/8 x 11-1/6 inches with clear cups and blue handles in a grey housing
Where tip out systems earn their place
Exam and treatment roomsOne shallow run above the work surface holds the day’s consumables at eye level and leaves the counter clear for the actual task.
Multi-row banks for high SKU countsSeveral rows on one panel or wall give dozens of labelled positions in the footprint of a noticeboard. They also work well in endoscopy and interventional rooms, where long packaged items need to be visible and reachable without opening drawers, and at kit make-up benches where someone assembles the same set repeatedly. In an emergency department they suit the small items that must be found without thinking. What they are not is bulk storage: anything ordered by the carton belongs on bin shelving instead.
Laying out a tip out run
Estimated figures only. Quantities, footprints and capacities we produce during planning are estimates for discussion. Final specifications and dimensions are confirmed on the quote and field-verified before installation.
Labs USA is a supplier and project partner, not the manufacturer. We supply Quantum Medical storage products, help size and configure them for the room and the workflow, and coordinate delivery and installation.
Plan the wall, not just the unit
Tell us the wall length, the height range of the people using it and what has to be in reach. We will come back with a run layout, compartment sizes, a label plan and a quoted parts list. The Design Center also has the configurators and intake checklists.
