Clear medical storage bins solve a specific problem: staff cannot tell from the aisle whether a bin is full, low or holding the wrong thing. A clear body, or a clear window across an open front, turns a stock check into a glance. This page covers the clear bin bodies, windows, label holders and dividers the manufacturer publishes, where clear beats colour coding and where it does not, and how to specify them. It sits under medical bins and containers.

Clear bodies, clear windows, or both
Two different products get called clear bins, and they behave differently on a shelf.
Clear bin bodies. Clear is one of the published colour options across the hanging bin and shelf bin ranges, and four hanging bin sizes are additionally published in Crystal Clear, which the manufacturer describes as providing unparalleled clarity and a direct, unobstructed view. Those four are the QUS210, QUS220, QUS230 and QUS240 sizes — published at 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 x 3 inches, 7-3/8 x 4-1/8 x 3 inches, 10-7/8 x 5-1/2 x 5 inches and 14-3/4 x 8-1/4 x 7 inches respectively.
Clear windows. Most open-front bins take an optional clear window that closes the hopper front. The manufacturer describes it as clear injection-moulded crystal styrene and says it increases the bin’s usable capacity, prevents spillage and still lets you see the contents. On a busy shelf the window is often the better buy: you keep a coloured body for your colour convention and still get visibility.

Clear accessories that matter more than they sound
- Clear label holders (published as LTR-1300 and LTR-1754 depending on bin size) keep the label flat, legible and in the same place on every bin
- Clear dividers are ordered by adding a CL suffix to the divider model number, so a subdivided bin stays readable rather than becoming three opaque slots
- Clear tip-out cups are the standard on the tip-out ranges, including a dividable clear bin published as QTB410
- Clear covers on the larger containers keep dust off without hiding what is inside
Where clear is the right call — and where it is not
Clear wins where the question is how much is left. Two-bin and par-level systems, low-use items nobody thinks to check, high-value consumables, and any position where a stockout stops a procedure. It also wins in rooms where several teams share the same shelving and nobody has memorised the layout.
Colour wins where the question is whose is this or which par level. A clear bin cannot carry a colour convention, so a room built entirely from clear bins loses the ability to spot a misplaced bin from the end of the aisle. Most rooms we lay out mix the two: clear where the level matters, colour where the ownership matters.
One honest limitation: clear polymer shows dust, scuffs and marker much more than a pigmented body. That is a housekeeping question rather than a product fault, but it is worth raising before a whole room is specified clear. We make no cleaning, disinfection or infection-prevention claims about any bin material; we pass on the manufacturer’s published material information and design to the criteria your team provides.

Typical clear bin applications
Small-item positions at a work surfaceSmall clear cups and bins put connectors, caps and ampoules within reach and make a low level obvious without opening anything.
Lidded clear containers for kitsLatched clear containers keep a made-up kit together and let the next person confirm the contents before moving it.Clear bins are also the usual answer for a pick face on a wall: a louvered panel or wall rail run of clear hanging bins reads as one inventory board. In treatment and procedure rooms clear tip out bin systems do the same job in a smaller footprint, and in hospital pharmacy areas clear subdivision keeps look-alike packaging separated and countable.
Specifying clear bins
Estimated figures only. Quantities, footprints and capacities we produce during planning are estimates for discussion. Final specifications and dimensions are confirmed on the quote and field-verified before installation.

See how many clear bins a shelf will take
The Shelving and Bin Configurator fills each shelf level with the bin sizes you choose, shows the count and the leftover shelf length, and lets you mix clear and coloured positions before anything is quoted.
