Acid & Corrosive Storage Cabinets — Chemical-Resistant Safety Storage
Acid and corrosive storage cabinets protect against the unique hazards of strong acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, hydrofluoric) and strong bases (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide). Unlike flammable cabinets, acid cabinets require chemical-resistant construction — polypropylene, polyethylene-lined steel, or epoxy-coated steel — because acids attack bare metal.
Labs USA supplies acid cabinets with separate compartments for acids and bases, ventilation connections for vapor removal, adjustable poly shelving, and spill-containment sumps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I store acids in a flammable cabinet?
Flammable cabinets are bare steel with paint — acids will corrode through them quickly. Acid cabinets use polypropylene, polyethylene liners, or specialty coatings that resist acid attack. Additionally, acid vapors require ventilation, while flammable cabinets should not be ventilated in most configurations.
Do acid cabinets need ventilation?
Strongly recommended. Acid vapors corrode nearby equipment and create breathing hazards even inside the cabinet. Labs USA specifies acid cabinets with ventilation connections and coordinates exhaust duct routing during lab design.
