Lab Wall Cabinets — Overhead Storage for Laboratories

Wall cabinets provide accessible overhead storage for glassware, reagent bottles, reference materials, and supplies. Mounted above countertops, they maximize vertical space without consuming bench area — a critical consideration in labs where every square foot of work surface matters.

Labs USA supplies wall cabinets in 12″ and 15″ depths, with standard heights of 30″ and 36″. Available in steel, stainless steel, and wood construction with hinged doors, sliding doors, or open shelving. Glass-front options provide visibility to stored items while containing dust and contaminants.

Features & Options

  • Adjustable shelving — Move shelves in 1″ increments to accommodate different-height items
  • Glass-front doors — Tempered safety glass for visibility. Framed or frameless options
  • Sliding doors — Save space in tight lab configurations where hinged doors would interfere
  • Lockable — Keyed-alike or keyed-different for controlled substance storage
  • Anti-tip brackets — Seismic mounting hardware for earthquake zones (required in Utah)
  • ADA compliance — Mounting heights and hardware per accessibility standards
  • Pass-through cabinets — Doors on both sides for shared storage between adjacent labs

Frequently Asked Questions

How high should wall cabinets be mounted in a lab?

Standard mounting places the bottom of wall cabinets 54″ above the finished floor (18″ above a 36″ countertop). This provides clearance for instruments and equipment on the bench while keeping cabinet contents within reach. ADA-compliant installations mount lower and may require reduced cabinet height.

Do lab wall cabinets need seismic anchoring?

In seismic zones (including Utah), building codes typically require positive wall anchoring for overhead cabinets. Labs USA provides seismic mounting hardware and ensures proper anchoring during installation.

Can wall cabinets be installed without a backsplash?

Yes. Wall cabinets mount directly to wall studs or blocking — backsplashes are a separate component. However, many labs install backsplashes between the countertop and wall cabinets to protect the wall from chemical splashes.
