Casework Configuration

Hospital microbiology casework should be wall-mounted or have legs/toe kicks that allow floor cleaning underneath. Avoid base cabinets that sit flat on the floor — they trap contamination at the seam.

Bench Height

Most microbiology work is seated (reading plates, microscopy, computer entry). Standard bench height of 30 inches works for seated tasks. BSC work is standing — 36-inch counter height or adjustable-height BSC stands accommodate both postures.
